Mini Mo' August 2013 - Toffifee and Crazy Rainbows #Blogtoberfest13 day 20

I'm running a little behind on my Mini Mo' blogging and am planning to get up to date over the next few days, starting with August. My first collection is called Toffifee, it is a scrumptious collection of coffee, caramel and toffee tones.
Here is a fabby bead showing what the 3d flower murrini in this first collection look like under a deep encasing layer. I have a tutorial on my blog here showing how to use Tonbodama style 3d flower murrini.
This cool focal uses Toffifee cane to form the flower, stem and leaves. The flower sits on top of silvered Cookie Dough shards.
I made this set of shell using wraps of twistie cane. The reulsts are nowhere near true to life but is fun and effective.
This trio of kitsch mushies use toffifee canes to lovely effect as swipes to create petals, leaves and dots.

I love this bright collection which uses glass in every colour of the rainbow. In this Mini Mo' image you can see a rainbow flower murrini,  the tutorial here shows how I get the best out of using this king of glass embellishment.
This lovely set of autumnal pillow beads over CiM Nutmeg uses the orange and yellow canes as dots o make detailed petals.
I've used one of the blue caned to swipe on large petal onto this pretty partially encased barrel shaped focal bead.
A series of rainbow twistie wrapped sculpted Scallop shell beads. They are ever so bright and pretty.

It is now possible to join the Mini Mo' Club via Etsy for 3, 6, 9 or 12 month long subscriptions. Please check out my shop link for more info.

Mini Mo' November 2012 - Button Brights and Button Blues

Both of my Mini Mo's for November are inspired by buttons, I remember spending hours as a kid sorting and sifting through my Nan's button tins - I thought button murrini would be fun all year round but especially cute for Christmas critters!

The first colourway, Button Brights is made with Effetre Crimson 432, Effetre Dark Yellow 412 and Effetre Light Lemon Yellow 404 with Sherbet Dib-Dab shards. The murrini are very cute, a yellow four hole button and orange ones with 2 holes!
This first set is made with Sherbet Dib-Dab shards, a limited edition hand mixed colour blend of bright oranges and yellows. I have doodled all over this set with fine black stringer work pictures of butterflies and flowers.
My next set uses Button Brights twistie to decorate the core, encased with a thick layer of Effetre 006 clear glass. I have finished his set with many layers of tiny dot decoration and complimenting spacers.
My third make using Button Brights glasswork is this cute mini snowman set. It uses Button Murrini for his eyes and nose. I have added a little matched pair of sparkly textured snowballs to finish the set.
Button Blues is made with Effetre CiM Glacier, CiM Celadon and Effetre Medium Lapis 424 with silvered Celadon Shards. The murrini in this set are a mix of Glacier two hole buttons and dark blue 4 hole ones too.
This set features Silvered Celadon shards which is a new staple colour that I have just added to my lampwork supplies shop. These shards are over CiM Appletini and CiM Sherwood and have been spot heated and twisted at the edges with lime stringer.
This set uses Button Blues twistie over a core of 006 which I have encased with a thick layer of Effetre 006 clear to magnify the detail. I have embellished this set with layers of tiny dot decoration and cobalt blue encased spacers.
This next mini set is a cutie pie snowman focal with two tiny button eyes and a big blue button nose. I have added a pair of sparkly textured snowballs to finish the set.

Lampwork Shard Favourites.....

I have just listed three of these indulgent shard boxes on Etsy. I don't make many of these and I take my time over designing them. The reason is that I add a few of my favourite shards to these boxes throughout the year, most of the shard recipies are limited edition or designed for the Mini Mo' Club.

My aim in collecting the shards together over a long period of time is so that there is a great deal of variety in these exclusive collections.

There is 2.5g of each of 18 different colours, enough to make  a set and focal at least..........

  • Top Row Sea Heather – Red Riverrock – Strawberry Coulis
  • Middle Row Blueberry Hill – Sedona Park – Mossy
  • Bottom Row Dawn Chorus – Silvered Banana Cream – Green Goldstone
  • Top Row Silvered Turquoise – Silvered Petrol Green – Cloudbusting
  • Middle Row Silvered Ivory – Silvered Coral - Persimmon
  • Bottom Row Goldstone – Silvered Slytherin – Silvered Hades

Mini Mo' October 2012 - Hey Apple! and Strawberries & Cream

Hey Apple! is named after the catch phrase of a notorious You Tube Character called Annoying Orange with whom my children are smitten. The colourway for this Mini Mo’ for October is elegant and fairly simple, beautiful CiM Cardamom, CiM Split Pea, Effetre dark brown Special 448 and Effetre transparent grass green 022 with Cardamom shards.

A scrumptious trio of iced Ghee apple murrini topped caramel beads....nom nom nom
Not the best picture of this tree bead but the only one I have as it is already winging it's way to it's new home across the Atlantic. It is an encased tree bead with Hey Apple! twistie dots for leaves and blossoms.
This bright bead is a corking great big bumpy focal with a core of Hey Apple! ribbon twistie
My second glasswork collection for October continues along the fruit theme with Strawberries & Cream. I have used lashings of delicious CiM Maraschino with CiM Elphaba and Effetre Angel Pink 261 with Green Goldstone shards.

Strawberry chocolates by Jolene Wolfe
First up here is a super photo of my entry for the GBUK Best of British competition which was taken on the day by Richard Downton. I've used Strawberry slice murrini and Strawberry & Cream murrini to decorate these.
Next up I have a little collection of caramels decorated with some dots and swirls of Strawberries Cream twistie cane berries and icing to show.
My last set of beads that I would like to share today use Strawberries and Cream twistie under a thick layer of Effetre 006 Clear encasement. The clear magnifies the detail of the twistie brilliantly.

Mini Mo' October 2011 - She's a Rainbow and Back to Black

The glasswork collections I have put together this month are each a twist on my perfect glass rainbow. As you can imagine form the names of these two collections, I spent a good deal of time singing in my studio in September! The glass I have used this month is

Effetre Crimson 432
CiM Creamsicle
Effetre Special Dark Lemon 408
CiM Sherwood
Effetre Periwinkle 220
Effetre Cobalt Blue 246
Effetre Purple 272

I've also used CiM Hades for the super dense black detailing on the ribbon twisties and two tone encased twisties in Back to Black. All of the twisities in both sets of Glasswork this month have been encased with Effetre 006 to keep the detail crisp and stop the webbing effect that is a characteristic quality of Hades.

She's a Rainbow features Persimmon shards, I've mixed this colour by hand and it makes me think of Effetre Tequila Sunrise.

On the left is a close up detail of She's a Rainbow murrini, melted flat on the surface of a large pressed tornado style focal bead.

I am very excited about the rainbow cane in the Mini Mo' collections this month, it's a new style of handmade glasswork for me. This bead shows the flat cane swiped on to form raised petals.

Back to Black features silvered Hades shards which are an absolute favourite of mine. My Back to Black murrini contains multiple layers of rainbow colors and Hades to create a darker and more complex looking murrini. Back to Black Murrini are also encased in 006 as the final layer to keep the black stripes looking crisp when melted flat.
The beads on the right show how the twistie cane looks when etched, both under and over encasement. Because they are encased twistie canes, not only do they not web but they have the same frosted appearance as the 006 base bead after etching, rather than taking on a powdery tone.

I've used the red cane to create a lip on this orange vessel bead, just the right finishing touch!

This is what the rainbow cane looks like when melted in flat. I made this cabochon off  mandrel by making a maria, laying on the cane  and melting it in flat. I then spot heated and twisted the soft area with a stringer in a couple of places to add interest and encased with clear.

A rainbow of twistie for Betsy

A quick blog and run from me via Flickr this morning - it shows a selection of twistie that I recently made for a customer on Etsy. I really like this picture even though it is just a quick snap that I sent for approval before posting as it makes me think of some kind of alternative rainbow.....now where did I put that pot of gold?
