New beads - peacock feather design

Peacock feather beads...

I have been working n a new design, this week, adding peacock feathers to the surface or some of my large pressed bead shapes.

I have set a cubic zirconia into the eye of each feather design using the stepped circle texture plate to hold them in place and some of the other texture plates to add imprints on the reverse to give them added interest and sparkle.

New heart focal beads......

A few of the beads that the kiln fairies left for me to discover this morning from yesterday's bead making sesh..

3 of these are made with Double Helix Terra 3 - my first go at working with this glass and the results are wildly different from one another!

Below is an encased heart with heart textures underneath the clear layer. The base glass is Double Helix Triton with a heavy reduction. 

All of these beads have been given some sort of tactile or visual texture with my new texture plate tools.

Then and now....

A little flashback to 2007 and my very first bead. Look at that horror of a bead hole! I am so glad I stuck with it though as melting glass is my passion and time in the studio gives me peace and serenity.

It's been a little over 16 years and in terms of skill and imagination things have moved on a great deal. Below are a few of my latest bead designs.

Sparking textured silver glass beads....

Sparking silver glass beads made with Double Helix Arke

This post is going to be a bit heavy with videos as I have not quite got the hang of photographing silver glass well just yet.

This first set is encased Effetre teal with textured dots of Arke and bright orange CZ's which I applied with the stepped circle texture tool. I have included a TiK Tok showing how it was done.

Below are two large encased Arke lentils - one made with the twisted square texture plate and the other with the stepped circle texture plate.

Finally a little video of the teal lentils showing just how sparkly they are"

More crazy alien beads.........

I have been playing around with this new crazy alien design again and have picked out some super bright happy colours to make them in. Some of these have made their way to my Etsy shop and a dozen or so are heading off in a donation parcel to Beads of Courage UK.

Happy cheeseburger beads.....

Today I made some cheeseburger beads that look yummy! I have been trying and failing at bringing this idea to life as a glass bead for a while now and these guys have made me happy!

it is possible to get a lot of detail even on a very small surface are - the same goes with every texture plate option as the centre shapes are just 5mm and 7mm wide.

The twisted square texture tool has 9 layers, stepped at 0.5mm intervals, each offset to give a twisted design that can either give a kind of Rennie Macintosh arts and crafts feel or look industrial depending on which glass you use it with.

These shiny hearts are made with double helix Hyperion over Effetre Teal, 

Below is a tumble etched CiM Frost and Effetre blue heart and a chunky glossy lentil made with the same glass combination.

The last image is a pair of big hole heart shaped charm beads made with Effeter Neptune, giving that industrial vibe.

Reichenbach multi-color and dense black fishes....
