Honey tone lampwork heart beads....

Honey tone heart beads with gold leaf

I love working with these colours, warm golden hues of amber and honey. These also have a touch of copper mica and a little bit of gold leaf.

This trio is available in my Etsy shop

Flower bud beads and spacer sized leaves.......

I thought a quick gallery style post to show the kinds of beads I'm loving to make at the moment would be fun :-D These don't tend to stay around long enough to make it over to Etsy, if you'd like to see more then please check out my Facebook page. Have a super evening, Jolene xx

Blogtoberfest day 4 - Made to Order Hearts

After just squeaking in, just in the nick time on day 3 with a cheeky colour study post, today is going to be another quick post and run too as I am busy preparing for the Uxbridge bead show tomorrow.

I am trying something new for Etsy, and starting to create listings for made to order hearts in my most popular designs and in my very favourite colours.
My first offering (above) is a collection in Reichenbach Ocean which is so lush and sparkly. Next up, delicious light transparent apple green........yum!
Stunning Bubblebath Opal lilac....
......and last but by no means least, in this stunning bright orange with both back and silvered ivory options.

You can check them out on Etsy :-D

Have a super weekend, Jolene xx

Etsy Mentor Month week 2, SEO, tags, titles, getting found....

There are 6 of us on CPteam taking part in Etsy Mentor Month for Teams this September. I'm jumping in with my mentor month blogging on week 2 as last week was hols and I was away for most of it though my mentoring partner Kat and I did critique each others shops and talk a bit about photography, styling and branding. As I am yet to make any changes to my shop in terms of images so I will come back and blog about week 1 topics later in the month.

That aim of week 2 is to look closely at our listings and improve their SEO and findability on Etsy Search with use of descriptive terms and phrases. Today I am going to look at one of my listings and rejig search terms, tags and the listing description to hopefully increase the number of views of my work will have via search engines and Etsy Search.

I've picked this set, Meadow, as it is a fairly new listing and I am pretty happy with the photography already

  • Currently my title is - Meadow Lampwork bead set - 11 beads
  • Tags are - glass, bead, lampwork, lampwork glass beads, handmade glass beads, leteam fhf, handmade glass, fhfteam, cpteam, artisan glass beads, deep green, large bead set, grass green, ink blue glass, dotty beads, love heart.
  • Description reads - Very pretty set of 11 green and teal beads that are just packed with detail

Some stats...... I listed these beads on the 12th of August and they have only had 58 views in that time. 7 of which came directly from Etsy search with the terms
  • lampwork
  • glass lampwork beads
  • lampwork beads
  • lampwork beads large sets
  • lampwork bead sets
They have been added to peoples favourites 11 times though which means that they are liked well enough by the few people that have seen them.

After working on my listing today
  • My title is - Lampwork handmade glass beads (11) encased meadow green beads with dots and stripes
  • Tags are - handmade lampwork, european sra, green lampwork beads. green glass bead set, Jolene Wolfe, Kitzbitz Art Glass, Forest green glass, dots and stripes, jewelry making, lampwork bead set, grass green beads, Lime green heart, CPteam FHF LEteam
  • Description reads - Handmade green glass bead set with delicate dots and stripes and stringer work detail. These encased beads are made with shades of lime green, grass green, forest green and teal with black and white.
I've also added more keywords to my materials section so as well as glass I now have - cim, moretti, effetre, reichenbach, creation is messy, coe 104

Will these changes bring more views and and bigger better stats for my listing? Only time will tell but hey it's got to be worth a shot!

Have a great week, Jolene xx

Lampwork Shard Favourites.....

I have just listed three of these indulgent shard boxes on Etsy. I don't make many of these and I take my time over designing them. The reason is that I add a few of my favourite shards to these boxes throughout the year, most of the shard recipies are limited edition or designed for the Mini Mo' Club.

My aim in collecting the shards together over a long period of time is so that there is a great deal of variety in these exclusive collections.

There is 2.5g of each of 18 different colours, enough to make  a set and focal at least..........

  • Top Row Sea Heather – Red Riverrock – Strawberry Coulis
  • Middle Row Blueberry Hill – Sedona Park – Mossy
  • Bottom Row Dawn Chorus – Silvered Banana Cream – Green Goldstone
  • Top Row Silvered Turquoise – Silvered Petrol Green – Cloudbusting
  • Middle Row Silvered Ivory – Silvered Coral - Persimmon
  • Bottom Row Goldstone – Silvered Slytherin – Silvered Hades

A rainbow of twistie for Betsy

A quick blog and run from me via Flickr this morning - it shows a selection of twistie that I recently made for a customer on Etsy. I really like this picture even though it is just a quick snap that I sent for approval before posting as it makes me think of some kind of alternative rainbow.....now where did I put that pot of gold?

Etsy Listing Polishing Project....

This is something I am aiming to do for all of my Etsy listings over time but for now here is the very first example of my Etsy Etsercise Listing Polishing project.

The whole idea of this project is to create a top notch listing that will work as a template for future listings. What I am aiming for are good images that will draw a potential customer in and a few tricks that will tempt them to stay and browse longer in your shop.

Etsy Etsercise Listing Polishing Tips

Take the best photographs you can

Aviod portrait images opting instead for square or landscape images. Minimum image size of 1000 px is reccommeded but I find both 1000 px by 1000 px and 1000px by 800 px can work really well.

For your primary photo choose the one that looks most interesting as a thumbnail

Use all 5 spaces for images
  • Do include a close up of interesting detail
  • Do show your product in situ
  • Do show your product in an image with other similar products
  • If you are marketing your product as a gift show packaging
  • You can even show yourself at work or a view of the equipment you use to make your products

Use all 14 tags
  • Include specific colours such as sky blue or baby pink
  • Include any/all of your team tags

Include tags that describe who the product is for
For instance:
  • Mothers day present
  • Bridal shower
  • For him
  • House warming gift

Include a URL that takes you to another related listing or to other relevant products
  • If your necklace has matching earrings post the link to them
  • If you have a range of products post a link to that shop category

What I haven't covered here is how to write an interesting shop description – I think this merits it own Etsy Etsercise project in the future.

Here are a couple of before and after pics for one of my listings. I hope this post is useful and easy to follow and will help others to create the most professional listings they can too.

Twistie eye candy

twists-blue, originally uploaded by kitzbitz art glass by Jolene.

I am getting the hang of blogging directly from Flickr - very handy, especially as I like my blog to be picture rich and not so very wordy. Here are some yum-scrum pics of my hand pulled twistie cane - bright and full of potential for lampwork bead beautifulness.

Lady Garden Beads

It might seem just a little bit naughty – or perhaps even out and out attention seeking, to be taking a perfectly pretty handmade glass bead and giving it a vadge badge.
I love making these, exactly because they are cheeky and to some tasteless, but to me they empower. Wear a Yoni with pride I say. I think that being 7 months pregnant has some part to play in this outspokenness – so whatever you call yours here are some of mine.
